Why is my growth slower than I expected?

Almost always, the targets. Either there are too few of them, or they are too broad, or their audience does not actually match your content. Your Targeting tab shows the follow-back rate for every target, so this is not guesswork: a rate of 30 percent or better is strong, under 12 percent is weak and worth swapping out.

Too few targets is the quietest killer. With only two or three, we exhaust their audiences quickly and start reaching the same people again. Measured across our live clients, accounts running four or more targets gained around five times as many followers per month as accounts running one to three. If your Overview shows a green panel about your target count, that is what it is telling you, and the fix takes two minutes in the Targeting tab.

The second place to look is the profile itself. Someone who lands on it decides in about a second whether to follow. A clear bio, a recognisable grid and recent posts convert visits into follows; a vague or stale profile wastes the visits we generate. That part is yours, and it is the highest-leverage free fix available.

Two more honest notes: growth counts from when your account was actually connected, so a week where setup is waiting on something from you is a week of no growth rather than slow growth. And growth is never perfectly linear, Instagram has quiet weeks. If the dashboard numbers still look wrong to you after checking all of this, contact us and a person will look at the account itself.
